If you are curious about the history of the St. Maarten island, just visit the St. Maarten Museum in Philipsburg. I found it upstairs in a restored 19th century house, exhibiting items regarding the history and culture of the island. The visit was free, its also a museum shop, its open mainly from 10 am to 4 pm, located at 7 Front St, phonenumber 5424917.
